Standing room only
It was standing room only at the Stanford Bloodmobile on Saturday, Aug. 27 as people from all over San Jose, especially Willow Glen, came to donate blood. At one point the wait was nearly 30 minutes, just to get in the door.
There’s a severe shortage of blood in the Bay Area, and this helped quite a bit. The Bloodmobile comes to the Washington Mutual parking lot at Lincoln and Minnesota about four times per year thanks to Judy Anderson, a realtor at Ventura Barnett Properties. This is a community service project and she does it with a smile. That’s Anderson (inset) handing juice to Michelle Huntley, a nurse practitioner student from University of San Francisco. Above right, Williwam Coolman of Willow Glen waits to donate blood “because donating blood doesn’t hurt and people can use it.”
Above left, Larry Hamlin, also of Willow Glen gets ready to donate “because I know the blood bank needs it.
