It’s time to get out your dancin’ shoes and join everyone on Lincoln Avenue to dance the night away.

Willow Glen families turned out in droves last year for the Dancin’ On The Avenue event, pictured above. This year’s event promises to be bigger and better.

Yes, it’s that time of year again, and this year’s Dancin’ On the Avenue celebration will be June 14. This is the 13th year for the event and each one gets better and bigger. Four bands will be playing for your entertainment including everyone’s favorite, The Joe Sharino Band, from 7 to10 p.m. at the Stevens Building Lot, sponsored by PEAK Travel Group. Joe Sharino plays pop, rock, Motown, funk, country, disco, rhythm and blues, jazz, Latin and swing. It has won 15 Best Band awards in Northern California’s Best of Pop.

Ryze The Band will be on stage at Brace and Lincoln from 6 to 10 p.m.; it is sponsored by Joey Jam Productions. Ryze is a seven-piece band that plays funk, jazz, Motown and modern.

The Silicon Valley House Rockers will be located on stage at Minnesota and Lincoln from 6 to 10 p.m., sponsored by Kitchen Experts of California. This 10-piece band—with a five-piece horn section—is known for playing rock and roll classics.

Mamaluke will play on the Jamba Juice Stage from 5 to 10 p.m. It is sponsored by F. Rodgers Corporation-Insulation and Specialty Contractor. Mamaluke is a classic rock band providing great dancing music and lots of energy.

But that’s not all. The Community Stage, with its selection of dance acts, will be located at the back of Kid’s Court in the Wells Fargo Parking lot. A variety of dance acts are featured - from cute little kids to talented belly dancers. Kid’s Court, sponsored by Tim Casey Construction and the Community Stage, will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. There are lots of carnival games and fun as well as typical children’s activities. Money raised at the Kid’s Court is donated to local non-profits and schools.

As usual, the aroma of delicious food will permeate Lincoln Avenue with at least seven eateries signing up to feed the crowds and more expected by June 14. So far this year, Casa Blanca will provide falafels, gyros, chicken shawarma, kabobs and veggie sandwiches. Mojo Burger will join Pizza My Heart, Round Table and Willow Street Pizza along with Taiwan Restaurant and Willow Glen Yogurt. All food sales are cash only.

There will be several booths for water, soda, beer and wine. Drinks are purchased by tickets only, which will be sold at four locations on the street. Those wishing to purchase beer or wine must show legal ID with proof of age. They will receive a wrist band at security desks next to the ticket booths. No alcoholic beverages will be served without a wristband. The booths will stop pouring beer and wine at 9:30 p.m. sharp. Tickets are not refundable.

Sponsors for the event include American Laser Centers Logo, F. Rodgers Corporation, Joey Jam Productions, Valley Credit Union, Comerica Bank, Bottomley Distribution Corporation, TV36, KUFX 98.5, KCNL 104.9, Washington Mutual, Bank of America, Tim Casey Construction, Silicon Valley Community Newspapers, Saturn Autos, Kitchen Experts of California, Aqui's Cal-Mex, Wells Fargo, Chiropractic First, Equitas Capital, Willow Glen Ace Hardware, Juan Mario's Generations Hair Salon and Genesis Stoneworks.
