Hate Crimes
1500 block of Calle de Aida
The suspect, a white male juvenile approximately 12-16 years old, was going door-to-door soliciting sponsorships to “Camp Campbell” (possibly a summer program associated indirectly with Ida Price Middle School). An adult male, possibly his father, in a white station wagon, accompanied him. The suspect drew complete, and in some cases incomplete, swastikas on exterior doorframes of some of the homes where he had solicited. Swastikas were found on the doorframes of four families that did not contribute funds. The Hate Crimes Unit was notified.

Vandalism/Gang Graffiti
2001 Cottle Avenue —Willow Glen High School
During the evening or early morning hours, the suspect took black markers and shoe polish containers and wrote gang graffiti on high school campus walls, doors and miscellaneous property. The graffiti is Norteno / Sureno related. Photos were taken, evidence has been collected and suspects have been developed from investigation.

Non-Injury Police Vehicle Accident
1140 Lincoln Avenue
An officer operating an unmarked vehicle in a private parking lot was struck from behind by another vehicle. There were no injuries.

Fire-AMR Assist/Major Injury
2200 block of Coastland Avenue
Officers responded to a residential party to assist fire on a medical aid call. A 40-year-old male dove into the shallow end of a swimming pool as a finale to his dance performance. A doctor and nurse were on scene and began immediate medical treatment. Upon Fire/AMR arrival, the subject was conscious/breathing and transported to VMC. Follow-up information was that the victim sustained a broken neck. No unusual circumstances were noted.

Burglary
Ross and Hillsdale Avenues
Officers responded to a suspicious circumstances at the above location. Upon their arrival, they learned one adult female and three adult males from Virginia are travelling through California. They are out of work and transient. Passing Sartorette Elementary School, they discussed entering an empty classroom to look for and steal a purse or other valuables. As the female suspect committed the burglary, the male suspects waited in their vehicle and picked her up as she ran from the classroom.
As they drove off in the getaway vehicle, they rear-ended a vehicle stopped for the signal at Ross and Hillsdale Avenues. As they exited the vehicle, the female suspect was seen throwing the stolen purse into some bushes at that location. She was transported and booked into Santa Clara Jail on the above charges. After statements by the three male suspects, the decision was made to release them pending review by the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office. One of the male parties was feeling ill and was transported to Valley Medical Center by paramedics.

Burglary Suppression
Leigh/Southwest Expressway
Officers worked a burglary suppression operation in the Leigh-Stokes-Southwest Expressway area. Numerous subjects were contacted and field interviewed. At approximately 2200 hours, two officers contacted a subject under the influence of heroin and in possession. He has prior arrests for burglary. The suspect was booked into Santa Clara County Jail.

Sexual Assault
Almaden Avenue/Alma Avenue
SJPD officers responded to a sexual assault call at Almaden and Alma Avenues. The 18-year-old female victim went to a house party in that area with a friend and two unknown subjects. Upon arrival at the party, the three subjects pushed the victim into a bedroom and sexually assaulted her. She was able to escape and flee on foot, at which time she called 911 on her cell phone. One suspect has been identified but remains at large. The other two suspects also remain at large.

Traffic Enforcement
Branham/Camden/
Highway 85
The district Adam team again monitored and enforced the morning commute at Branham Lane, Camden Avenue and Highway 85. The team made contact with 32 motorists issuing 12 citations (11 for gridlock and 1 for regulatory sign) and 20 educational warnings. Between Tuesday’s action and this morning’s, contact was made with 56 commuters (27 citations/29 warnings).

Child Molest
Lincoln Avenue
The reporting party (16-year old victim’s mother) advised police that she had recently learned from her son that he had been sexually molested approximately nine years earlier at a San Jose elementary school by a school janitor.

Coroner’s Case
2500 block of Meridian Avenue
San Jose Police responded to the above location on the report of a coroner’s case. The 74 year-old female adult had a history of heart disease and was receiving kidney dialysis.

Death by Natural Causes
Nestorita Way
Family members had been unable to reach the victim today and arrived at the residence this evening to find the 88-year-old female deceased. The house was secure upon their arrival and there was no indication of foul play. She had recently been seen by her doctor and was taking medication.

Warrant Service
1000 block of Almaden Avenue
Day shift “gang” officers served an arrest warrant at a “Norteno” crash pad and were refused entry. Entry was made and the suspect was taken into custody without incident. On view charges included possession of “meth” for sale and being under the influence of “meth”. The investigation is ongoing.

Accident with Injury
Camden/Hillsdale
A 19-year-old male victim was riding his bicycle westbound on Hillsdale at the Camden intersection. He was riding against traffic with no lights while straddling the inner lane of the #1 lane. He was struck by a 23-year-old male driver of a mid-size pick up truck. The victim was knocked unconscious and transported to VMC. It was later determined that he had a broken leg and head trauma, but not life threatening. The driver was found to be DUI and was booked into the county jail.

Armed Robbery
1600 block of Branham Lane
The female victim was loading groceries into her car in the Safeway store parking lot. The suspect approached her, brandished a knife and demanded her purse. The suspect fled the scene on foot with the victim’s purse containing cash and credit cards. The suspect is outstanding.

Felony Vandalism
2038 Lincoln Avenue
Officers responded to a prowler call. An officer stopped two pedestrians two blocks away and located paint on them. They admitted to vandalizing the video store. Officers located five other local victims with the same vandalism “tag.” One 17-year old was booked into juvenile hall and one 18 year old was booked into county jail for felony vandalism.

Willow Glen High School and Hacienda Elementary
A security guard observed a burned paper banner near room 101 at Willow Glen High School. The suspects are unknown. SJFD did not respond to this incident. Another suspicious fire occurred this evening at Hacienda Elementary. Fire responded to a plastic bottle on fire on the pavement near the playground. There are no suspects.

Attempted Suicide
Camden Avenue/
Highway 17
An officer responded to the area of Camden Avenue at Highway 17 on report of a possible jumper from the highway overpass. On arrival, the subject was seen climbing over the guardrail preparing to jump. Campbell Police, CHP, Central Fire and ambulance responded. Southbound Highway 17 was closed in all lanes as well as westbound and eastbound Camden Avenue. Officers verbally engaged the adult male subject who was hearing voices telling him “he had to die today.” They negotiated with the subject for 90 minutes. The subject finally surrendered to officers. The subject was booked into the Main Jail Psychiatric Ward on a felony no bail warrant.
